Industrial safety is of paramount importance and there are many statutory regulations which every industrial establishment has to follow. This includes wearing of safety helmets and safety shoes and other accessories. Safety helmets are meant to protect any direct head injury and have to be worn by all employees who are in the open yard or even within where overhead there are heavy objects or there is any risk of things falling even by accident. Safety helmet manufacturers make a wide variety of helmets from which you can choose and distribute for your employees.
A Helmet for Every Application
As mentioned, there is really a large range of safety helmets, which the manufacturers produce and supply to the industry. At the broader level, the categorisation is based on the industry one is utilizing the safety helmet for. For example, a building construction would want a certain model of safety helmets while employees in a steel making factory. Similarly, the mining industry would be going for a different design.
Outer and Inner Sides of the Safety Helmet
The average industrial safety helmet would have an outer shell made from fibreglass reinforced plastic or FRP. FRP is a strong material and will resist the impact of objects, falling on it. There are two things the outer shell has to do. One is to take the hit and not crack or break so that the head beneath is fully protected. The second requirement is that while remaining intact, the shock should also not pass to the head of the wearer of the safety helmet, since even a severe jolt could affect the head. This is where the design and material inside come into play. The strapping is made with nylon material, and the fixture is put in place with the FRP shell by means of rivets. Thus, when something heavy hits the wearer on the helmet, the impact is taken by the shell, and the wearer does not feel any impact.
Safety Helmets Have to Meet Stringent Tests
Industrial safety helmets manufacturers have to have the internal facilities to test the helmets before they are shipped out. Firstly, these are safety equipments and failure of the product at a critical time could prove fatal even for the employee wearing the helmet. What is more important is that there are strict standards and regulations laid down for certifying the helmets to be safe as rated or required for the application. The tests would include destructive testing to check the impact resistance capability.
